Announcement
Our TimeSite development team continues to roll out our new UI style across our time tracking solution. In our most recent two releases (11 Mar and 19 Mar) we have been particularly focused on our Admin and Approval screens. Our new UI design also includes important improvements to our navigation and editing strategy.
These improvements to Settings, Approval and Admin screens are currently being documented in our Knowledge Base and you’ll find links to all these new and amended articles on the KB Announcements Page over the coming days.
We’ve introduced a number of improvements to the way TimeSite Pro handles the linking of users to projects, as well as the way that cost and bill rates are set with these links. We've also introduced improvements to project budgets and alerts. There are lots of other cool improvements to key features such as project templates. Please refer to the detailed KB articles for more detailed information on these topics.
There have been a number of changes made to the way that TimeSite Pro handles data import and export, and a number of the data import templates have been enhanced. This won’t break any existing data import files that you currently use, but it would be worth taking time to review these new templates for additional fields that can now be imported.
As always, we continue to work on performance improvements and overall stability. If you have any problems, including any difficulties with our new screens and functions, please let us know via an email to support@timesitepro.com. We’ll also be happy to chat with you online and take your calls to our support line.
More Information on this Announcement…
TimeSite Pro Style Continues Rollout
We continue to roll out our new UI/UX style to include the Settings, Admin and Approve screens. This includes changes to the way that our left-hand sub-menu is laid out. You can see this change in the Settings screen with the new menu layout for Systems Settings. This was previously set up as a single (large) page of settings which, frankly, was overwhelming. We've now laid this out in four separate screens what will fit within most browser windows without excessive scrolling.
Our design also incorporates more white-space making it easier to see what's included in the screen. This will make it easier to quickly identify the particular setting that you want to change.
Approve Screen Redesigned
We've made extensive changes to the Approve screen to incorporate the feedback we've received from our customers about the limitations of the previous screen. The timesheet filters have been redesigned and incorporate our new UX approach to these pulldown elements. When you click on an individual timesheet, a panel will popup showing all the timesheet records included in this timesheet period. Clicking on an individual timesheet record will popup the timesheet record itself. This UX approach will be consistent throughout our new TimeSite Pro redesign. The KB article on Approve timesheet will be amended in the next couple of days to incorporate these new features.
Cost & Bill Rate Changes
Cost and Bill rates have had considerable attention paid to them to improve functionality and make it easier to set them up and use rates effectively with Users, Projects and Tasks. We updated the layout of Settings > System Settings > Rates making it easier to enable rates settings. The Time Bill Rates screen has been updated with our new design in Admin > Time Bill Rates and these changes will shortly be introduced to Time Cost Rates. Clicking on a Bill Rate or clicking the edit icon (pencil) will bring up a new edit screen. This new layout is more informative and easier to navigate. The KB articles on Time Bill Rate and Time Cost Rate will be updated in the coming days to reflect these changes.
User / Project / Task Linking
Our development and design team has given a lot of thought to the screens and popups associated with linking users to projects and/or tasks. This is one of the more complex areas of functionality in TimeSite Pro, and a feature that many of our customers use (and love!). We understood that our former approach to these screens was somewhat confusing, so we've designed our new approach to be more intuitive. Links are now set up using a wizard approach that will guide you through the process of linking users to a project, or linking a project to users. This will be documented in the Linking Users and Projects article.
Updates to Data Import Templates
We've made some important changes to the Data Import templates to include additional fields and actions. If you are using imports in your TimeSite Pro administration workflows involving Project, User and Client imports, we recommend that you download the Sample Template and review the including field (column) documentation. Select Source File type: TimeSite to enable the Sample Template with specifications button.
Timesheet Custom Fields Constrained by Task
We have redesigned Settings > Custom Fields to implement our new style and make it easier to set up dropdown field items. We have also introduced a new setting to constrain the display of a custom field by task. You can set this feature at Settings > System Settings > Timesheets > Constrain the use of timesheet custom fields via Tasks. With this set on, you will see a new option in the Task edit panel: Do not display custom timesheet fields. Enable this setting to suppress the display of Timesheet Custom Fields when this task is selected. See Custom Fields for more information.
Dashboard Widgets offer Print Report Option
We continue to improve the functionality of our Dashboard widgets and have included the option to Print report as well as Print chart. Print report will display a more detailed report on the data presented in the dashboard widget.
MYOB Integration
We have made some changes to our integration with MYOB to accommodate changes they have made to their API. In particular, we have modified the MYOB activity slip export to ensure non-time records are exported correctly. MYOB Online won't accept activity slip records. We now create a text file containing non-time records to import manually as activity slips.
