Daily Allowances

Enhancement to Awards Engine

As a natural adjunct to our rules engine which automates pay rules outlined in industry awards, enterprise agreements or any pay rule set, we have created additional functionality for daily allowances.  This new functionality enables employees to select specific allowances on a daily basis. eg work at height, LAFHA, Hammer etc. Daily allowances are ONLY available with our Award Interpretation add-on.  

Daily Allowances

This new functionality allows you to:

• Create daily allowances
• Create allowance groups and users groups
• Create links between allowance groups and user groups
• This enables the targeting of allowances to certain users on a daily basis

Step 1

Go to System settings / Timesheets and check the box – enable daily allowances and pre-start check boxes (pre-start functionality to be released in February).

Step 2

You must now enable the use of user groups. 

Go to Systems settings / Features and check the box “enable the use of user groups”.

Step 3

Go to System setting / Lists and Types / User groups and add a user group.  In this example we have selected the user group Project Manager.  

Step 4

Then go to Systems settings / Awards / Daily allowances and add a new record to create a new allowance.  These can also be linked to Award codes using the drop down menu once you have created the award codes under List and Types / Award Codes.  In this example I have created two allowances - Hammer and LAHFA.

Step 5

You must now create an allowance group and link that to your user group and link allowances to the group.  Select the Allowance Groups tab and add a new record – in this example I have created the allowance group Demolition.  Select the allowance group Demolition and then select the allowances for this group – Hammer and LAFHA in this example.

Then click the User Groups tab and link it to the user group by selecting the group; Project Manager in this example.

Step 6

You must then add users to the User Groups you have created.  Go to Admin / User and select a user.  Go to their Settings tab and select a User Group -  in this example I have added them to the Project Manager user group.  DONT FORGET TO SAVE!

The employee then will have a button shown on the timesheet screen to allow them to pick the allowances they are claiming for the day selected .

To recap - this new functionality allows you to:

• Create daily allowances which you can link to allowance groups and user groups
• This enables the targeting of allowances to certain users on a daily basis
• The users then need to select their daily allowances before they can begin their day and create new time sheet entries.
